THINK BRICK AWARDS 2019
Award entries are now
The Think Brick Awards, Australia's richest design awards, continue to grow in the number of award categories, number of entries and the level of sophistication of featured projects. The 2016 Think Brick Awards will feature the new Robin Dods Terracotta Roof Award with the largest cash prize among the categories, bringing the total number of award categories to six. The Think Brick Awards opened for entries on 5th November 2015.
Presented by the Roofing Tile Association of Australia, the Robin Dods Terracotta Roof Award category, with a cash prize of $15,000, will reward the best commercial or residential architecture project that features the prominent use of terracotta roof tiles. All entries will also stand a chance to win the Grand Prix prize of two Business Class tickets to the Venice Biennale in 2018.
Ms Elizabeth McIntyre, Chief Executive Officer of Think Brick Australia and the Roofing Tile Association of Australia, said, “Since their inception more than ten years ago, the Think Brick Awards have become bigger and better each year. In 2015, we received a record high of 315 entries across all categories. For 2016, the new Robin Dods Terracotta Roof Award, with the largest cash prize among the six categories, will shine a spotlight on the benefits and timeless beauty of terracotta roof tiles.”
The Robin Dods Terracotta Roof Award is named after famed architect Robin S. Dods, who lived in Brisbane in the 1880s and Sydney in the early 1900s. His architectural designs embraced sustainability and climate awareness. Some of his heritage-listed commercial projects that still stand as classics today include the All Saints Memorial Church in Tamrookum and the Maryborough City Hall in Queensland.
“The 2016 Think Brick Awards will chart the journey of Transcendence. We look forward to seeing how the entries for the 2016 awards have transcended their clay brick, paver, block and roof tile beginnings to become architectural masterpieces,” Ms McIntyre said.
The 2016 Think Brick Awards opened for entries on Thursday, 5th November 2015, and will close on Thursday, 5th May 2016 at 5 pm EST. All entries must be submitted online through the website.
