Hunting for Australia’s Best Commercial Brick Design. Think Brick
Think Brick Awards (14/12/2015)
Architects are competing for Australia’s richest design awards in its Horbury Hunt Commercial category.
Participants have the chance to win $10,000 in the annual Think Brick Awards with the winner being awarded at the annual Gala Dinner to be held in Melbourne on August 8th, 2014.
Last year, the awards attracted a record number of entries and Think Brick CEO Elizabeth McIntyre expects a similar outcome in 2014.
“We want to reward architects for innovatively using bricks in their commercial projects and at the same time recognise the contribution of builders, bricklayers and manufacturers in the process” she said.
The 2013 winner of the category – Bureau Proberts’ design of the Bellbowrie Swimming Pool in Brisbane, exhibited the level of craftsmanship that is expected for such a prestigious accolade.
Also for the first time, a Grand Prix Awardis introduced which will recognise the overall winner of the 5 categories. This, along with the increase of prize money for each category, will inspire interest amongst entrants.
Submitted projects must have been completed since January 2012, be located in Australia and contain 75 per cent in clay face brickwork or use of clay pavers.
The entries must be built primarily for commercial purposes and can include government, public health, education and multi-residential projects.
Entries can be submitted online at www.thinkbrick.com.au and close 5pm on Friday, May 23, 2014. The winner of the award will receive a trophy and plaque as well as the cash prize.
